Xbmc network location problems

Hello, Everyone how is everything going, I had a question about xbmc. I got the latest version and i have it as my main dashboard. I am trying to stream videos off my pc to my xbox. My old xbmc did it without any problems but this one i cannot for the love of me add the source correctly. I have tried going to command getting my ip and putting it in and seeing if it sees anything, which it does not. I am directly connecting to it using a crossover cable and i am using windows xp home edition. I looked at a guide before i posted mine but it would be maybe more useful to a windows pro then home. So If i could any help i would truly appreciate it.
