Can anyone help? I have successfully used both Red Kawa file server and Windows Media Player to copy video files around 5GB in size. But I'm not having any luck copying a single 14GB file. I've tried both of the above methods, but after about 30 seconds of trying the PS3 comes up with an error (either a simple unable to copy, or a protocol error).

Whilst the PS3 is trying to copy my PC's hard drive light is going crazy, so I'm guessing that the PS3 is getting some info on the file before it copies it. But maybe the file is simply so big it gives up before the whole file has been checked.

Has anyone else managed to copy files this big before?

Thanks.

I have not tried this but could it be down to fact the PS3 file system is FAT32 and has a 4.5GB file size limit?

I could be way off but I don't beleive that the PS3 HD is FAT32. If that were the case I would not have been able to place 8gig video files on the system. I beleive Sony uses their own format. There is still some discussion about this especially when trying to use the old drives after they have been upgraded.

Fair enough - I thought I read somewhere that it was FAT32, however having just dine some searching I does indeed seem that there is some disagreement around what format the PS3 HDD uses!

So that being said I am no longer sure of the answer for the original post!
