i450...personal lock or SIM lock?

Hi,

I happen to think that the i450 is a very nice phone, especially to a music lover such as myself. My wife however doesn't agree (she thinks it's too complicated for her purposes) and after 6 months gave her i450 to me. Here's the thing: it's locked up now and I don't know if it's SIM locked (we use different providers) or if there's some kind of personal lock on it. She actually hasn't used it for ages and can't remember any codes for it. So here's my question: I've read a lot about SIM locks and about services and codes to get around them, but how can I tell if that's really my problem? When I put my SIM card in it asks for the PIN, and seems to accept it, but then it asks for "Lock Code". Nothing we have seems to work and it doesn't show *, which all the Samsung codes I've found seem to have.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated :-)
