Hey im new to the software and just have a few questions.

1. IS it normal for the shrunk video to be in like 5 or 6 separate files? (like VTS_1_01, VTS_1_02, etc)

2. If so what do you shrinkers use to group the files back together?

And also i currently just have a version of xilisoft video converter to later convert the vob files to avi, is that an easy way to do so?

Thanks for any help!

It is if your HDD is Fat 32

@ iluvendo
Huh? what the hells haddrive format got to do with it,you take any data format it will appear the same in FAT or NTFS,so what were you think'n of

@ funk'n
The files are automatically grouped back by whatever encoder you use,or if your only going to watch the movie then delete it,then either power dvd, cyber dvd or i spose nero can play the files as is once they're loaded

ScorpNZ, you miss understand me, in Fat 32 you get files no larger than 1Gb, so when ripping a dvd, a lot of files show up as compared to NTFS where you get 1 large file (with lots of sub files as vts, vob1,vob2,etc)

My bad, iluvendo *sheepish grin*..lol.. those files still turn up in NTFS can't remember if shrink has a setting for just making one big file, like you say tho in fat they would'nt be larger than 1 gig

i would hate to start another disagreement between you two :P but my hdd is NTFS i triple-checked. The files are all exactly 1gb though. So who knows. Either way when i use VLC media player (suggest another one if this ones bad) to just view the vob files rather than converting them but it only plays the sections, i.e. it plaes them as single video files not the full movie.

It doesn't take long to move up from Newbie, then you can shrug off the 3minute waits.

I normally use cyber link power dvd to view those files it can play the lot in sequens or ff to whatever section so long as the whole folder is selected,if however i open the folder & do the left click then drag down so all files are highlighted then drag em to cyber,i think then it plays them wrong like you said VLC did, perhaps try dropping the folder to VLC if not maybe divx free mediaplayer can do it ?

EDIT: If all you want to do is view the movie on the comp then all you need do is open the disc then select the titles & play them inside shrink, you'll get sound as well, just expand the movie viewing window, the beauty of doing it that way is you can leave out the crap,by removing titles that are warnings etc
