I?m curious as to why the current releases do not have any apparent copy protection? I have noticed this for several months. I get a message "This movie does not seem to be protected". So I skip the decryption stage, go right to DVD Shrink, burn and I am done. Is there something I?m not understanding?
You are using ripit4me. It says dvd decrypter is not needed, but you can use shrink. Shrink has a rudementary ripper built in, so yes there is still the need for a ripper to break the encryption, ever so weak.
Shrink has a built in ripper which removes some basic protections. If you were to take some of those same commercial DVD's that you mentioned and try to just copy them via a burn engine (nero, imgburn, etc) you'd find they do indeed have some protection on them.
Thanks all for the feedback. The input is much appreciated. Everything ripped/burned is from either from one of the inexpensive videostores, BlockBuster or Netflix. I own Lord of the Rings Trilogy(I cut/pasted the text of the RI4M 1 CLICK screen) and below is reflective of what I get when running titles such as: Bucket List,Renaissance,Things We Lost in the Fire,The Great Debaters, Mad Money, First Sunday, No Country For Old Men, Jumpers etc.

Agree with Crab...read the rules and edit your post accordingly. We can not help with rented movies. Being a Jr. Member this should not be a suprise to you!
And i too OWN most of those movies, and they do have protection.
We can't help with movies you don't own...rent, burn and return discussions are a no-no. Furthermore if there isn't any protection of the discs you should be able to rip to your HDD with Imgburn in read mode. If Imgburn won't rip it then the disc is protected.
