you cant downgrade a slim as the lowest fw you can install is 3.60 so you will need to install cfw on to it.
because you have a cfw psp it makes it a lot easier for you.
just use upms to make a pandoras battery and a magic memory stick (needs to be about 256mb~1gb and formated) and then you just pop it into the slim and install the cfw that you want
read up on upms first then ask the questions as it is simple to follow

Bit of a problem!
when i get to this step
"Now use the Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery on the PSP that needs to be unbricked or Custom Firmware installed to."
I put the battery and the memory card in the other psp and the green light comes on but the screen just stays black, any idea??
EDIT
The battery wont work in either psp the screen just stays black ith the green light on? but the battery from the slim psp works in them both. Hope this helps

That means that you have created the pandora correctly, but your MMS is not right. Try remaking the MMS again and you should hopefully have more luck!
Also, just to confirm, are you using Vista? as some people report that the MMS cant be made properly on vista machines.

Right ok, I will try remaking the memory card when i get home. Yes my laptop does run on vista, il try remaking it on my main pc which is on XP. Does the battery have to be pandora at all times once iv got custom firmware on my slim psp? As the battery im converting to Pandora isnt actually mine. I know that you can convert them back as i did it last night.
Thanks Ibiza

once you're done putting custom firmware on the slim, you can revert the pandora's battery back to normal.

try upms its simple to follow
this is a guide for it i wrote for some one
1. put the 256mb-1gb memcard into the modded psp.
2. go to settings->system settings->format memory stick (this will delete everything on it)
3. connect the psp to the computer and download these files
a)upms
b)1.50 update ofw
c)3.71 update ofw
d)3.80 update ofw
e)3.90 update ofw
4)unrar upms and copy the .cso to the iso folder
5)rename 1.50 to 150.pbp, 3.71 to 371.pbp, 3.80 to 380.pbp and 3.90 to 390.pbp
6)copy all the updates to the root of the memory stick
7)load up umps on the psp
8)do the steps on upms
a) 1. -> make normal ipl
b) 2. -> back up eeprom and make pandoras battery
c) 3. -> use dc version5 and press o to not copy the 1.50 eboot
8)exit and take the battery and memory card out
9)put the memory card into the bricked/ofw psp and then put the battery in
10)choose dc version5
11)press L + R to back up the NAND (important)
12)then away you go installing 3.90m33
13)once finished put the ac in the bricked/ofw psp and take the battery out
14) turn it on and put the battery in
15) load up upms and install the fatmsmod
16) load upms back up and then go to the menu
17) go to 2. and click restore eeprom
18)now you have everything sorted just install the 1.50 kernel add on if you are using a phat psp
hope that helps

try placing in the battery first, then the memory stick.
also, with the u.p.m.s., you have to hold the l-trigger down when putting in the battery.

the folder is X:\ISO, correct? (x being the psp/memory stick letter)
also, did you change the iso driver to sony np9660?

Yes thats right, And no i never did anything like that lol, Another thing aswell can i format my memory card now? theres loads of random stuff on my memory card and it looks a mess.
Also is there a program to customise the XMB?

yes, you can format it now, if you don't need the u.p.m.s. anymore.
as for xmb customizing, it depends on the firmware you're using. i wouldn't know how to customize them, as i don't use them myself, but other members know how.
changing the iso driver is fairly easy, as you can do it in the xmb. press select, and the vsh menu will appear. go to the umd iso mode, and change it to sony np9660; just use the left and right on the dpad to change.

I'd suggest u buy a pandora battery from deal extreme (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12472) its cheap and u can keep it just in case u brick it later on.
To make the magic memory stick its easy, just follow this video, its awesome thats the one i used to make my memory stick:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPwlrAZa69c
One more time ill say buy a pandora from dealextreme or get it from a mate.
BUY IT lol
