Let me just clarify so you transfered them to one hd then copy cut & pasted them to another? I can't imagine why the won't play u appear to have all the codecs have you tried playing them in a different player and have you tried just rebooting the pc and tried again. it's rather odd you may want to also check your settings on the second drive or partition another option since you want to keep them is to burn them in file format to a data disc be it dvd or cdrom. You will then be able to play them in a compatible dvd player with divx or on a pc or laptop without taking up anymore space on your hard drive actually can free some up.

I just had a convo with a friend who thought he had downloaded some files and couldn't play them in fact when I checked his program none of the files were finished downloading thusly they would not play I don't thing this is your issue but thought I would pass it along the files arent complete until programs says they are and and you should then shut down the program or remove the from the queue before trying to play them

That sounds pretty good.. Now you may have corrupted them by trying to move too many at once, or faulty sectors on hdd.. or just busted up the index... vlc will play anything, complete or not...

Get avidmux and try loading one into that and see what happens... probably totally broken index or something.

Well, it would appear that the problem is obvious. The file is a corrupt file. Give it a proper burial.
