dear friend.
i have transferred my blockbuster home movie to my computer as it is instructed here in the forum. next thing i tried to convert the uncompressed 12gb blockbuster.avi to compressed avi lets say divx format.
as mentioned here i downloaded virtualdub, the divx codec was already present and fully functional in the system. but hell, when i trid to open the uncompressed buster.avi it gave an error massage which is very soothing.
the message is as follows:
dear user! i(virtualdub) have spotted that my host(the computer) lacks VFM compatible codec to decompress your video. and your precious direct show codecs will not work here so buzz off.
it says "couldn't find decompressor for dvsd format."
well i can't blame it considering thousands of files in the neighbourhood.

what was the question?
1-what this error massage/message points to and what is the solution "EUREKA!"
2-why did i not write a short thread?
