dvd2avi does not play movie

I am trying to convert DVD to DivX. I believe I've done everything right till now but when I add files to dvd2avi I can't see the movie in the dvd2avi window. In fact,the window is completely black. Can anyone help???

have you installed divx pro 5 or later codec
