Hi!
In your "Copy your DVD into DivX5 format - Guide for 16:9 anamorphic movies" and in the "Resize" section you say:
"Ok, so our resolution will be 640x360"
and in the "Crop the video" section you say:
"both axis need to be multiplies of 16" and"crop it to 352 instead (352/16=22 -- multiple of 16)"
My first question is:
OK with 352. It is a multiple of 16.
But 360 (remember: 16:9=640:360) is NOT a multiple of 16!!! Well?
And now my second question:
in the "DVD2AVI" section you say:
"Decoding and creating the .d2v project file takes about an hour with P3/800".
I have P4/2000 MHz with Win XP.
When I rip a 2 hour movie, .d2v project takes about 2 hours!!! Shouldn't take only half an our with my own PC?
Thank you in advance.

The guide is exactly correct -- you need to resize first to 640x360 and then do the cropping.

Why this is so?

Because we need to resize the video to reflect the correct aspect ratio first and this can be achieved only by resizing the video so it matches the exact 16:9 aspect.

After this you do the cropping for black areas, etc and make the video to be multiplies of 16.

And I will _definately_ remove any referrals to time or how long any of the parts will take, because there are tons and tons of other aspects related to the time consumption other than your CPU power and your DVD-ROM drive speed (such as your HDD's fragmentation status, other apps running, your DMA settings, etcetc).

...But, sorry, I didn't understand.

Please answer.

No it is not and it doesn't have to be -- 360 is the resolution you get after resize. But you need to do the cropping after this -- and reduce resolution further, depending on your movie and THIS value then has to be multiplies of 16. DivX codec cares only about what video it gets into -- and as Dub does resize and cropping before feeding the video to DivX codec, the resolution you have after cropping, is the one that matters.
