Some movies freezes on my pioneer

I got 2 brand new divx players that I got at Best Buy. Philips DVP5990 and I forgot the pioneer model. The pioneer i bought it for $80 and Philips was $65.
Problem: When using the pioneer, some movies just freezes (sometimes the voice go on but not the video). My Philips is cheaper yet able to play everything. What is the problem? Can someone help me pls?

Your Pioneer may not like the media you are using. Try a different brand or type.

More info, media type, media brand, burn speed, booktyped or not? Sounds like media problems but could be burn strategy.. Any info would be great.

Media is Sony. Top class in DVDInfo. I also do some research and this is what I got:
Picture freezes, but sound keeps going when playing DivX movies
"The DivX movie that you are trying to play contains errors. Some of the frames in the movie are invalid and when you try to play the movie the picture freezes because of these errors. The sound is able to keep on playing since it isn't as sensitive to small errors as the video. The invalid frames are usually caused by resuming downloads. To fix the invalid frames you can either try to download the movie again, but this won't help if your source also has a corrupted movie. In that case the only way to fix the movie is to load the movie into VirtualDub and manually edit/delete the invalid frames. There exists a workaround called DivX AntiFreeze, which once installed will avoid the permanent freezings during playback in Windows Media Player. However, it does not fix the invalid frames in the clip. "
but why did my Philips work?

Top class? Sony doesn't make their own media. What is the Media Code (MID)for that disc?

It's an avi file burning onto a Sony DVD+R. I don't have DVDInfo anymore so i can't show you the info, but it is top grade.

It is a good DVD, I've used many of these and don't have any problems with them, at what speed are you burning them? I recommend 8-12X for the best reslutls.

Paper labels can cause pixelation, jumpy playback, etc.

Paper labels on disks can alter the center of balance and warp the disk causing laser trasvking problms which cause playback issues. Even if they are aligned perfectly to begin with. Just the nature of the beast I guess.
Back to the original problem, the media type, the burn speed, even the + or Minus format may cause prblems, even the type of DVD Burner involved. I have a Sony DRU-800A(Rebadged Lite-On SOHW-1693S) which causes problems with my Philips and my Sony DVD player, but my Lite-On plays fine in all. Go figure.

Try some Taiyo Yuden or verbatim discs at a push(not the made in india ones)
