heyy guys its me again lol

Eh i got my previous problem sorted and now i got this problem.
I got a PAL version of Super Smash brawl, and it ask me to update, i got a jap wii, i heard if i update i will brick my wii,, so is there any thing i can do? i heard from my friend i have to update thru the wii update option, and it wont brick my wii. is that true.?
