Hi, Is it possible to strip audio from a VCD? (.dat files) Like, for example, i have a Movie PLaying and there's a certain part of the movie i would like to capture the sound, is it possible? What are the tools i need? And how do i go about doing it.

All responses are appreciated, Thanks for your help

HI have a look at TMPGEnc.Also the guides section maybe worth a look.Since i bought a dvd burner i havent been back to ripping vcd's in a while but i did create an audio book using TMPGEnc.The problem you might have after getting the file is that it may come down in an mp2 format. You will require a mp2 to mp3 converter like accoustica to fix the prob.If you have the money maybe also take alook at the sound forge / sonic foundry series of programs.

*Teleported to Video Discussion Rooms*

1. Open up the MPG/DAT file using VDub
2. Audio --> Full processing mode
3. Audio --> Compression --> None (or PCM)
4. File --> Save as WAV
5. Encode the WAV file as MP3 or whatnot.

This is simple: use these two buttons to set start and end point of selection - choose Audio - AVI Audio - Full Processing Mode. Then Choose "Save Wav" that's it...
