I noticed while watching a blu-ray that the widescreen black bars seem to be flickering. I'd assume it's the whole image but just more noticeable on a solid color, like the black bars. They seem to change to more of a blue tint, red tint, washed out, etc... It happens on more than one movie. I have a 40" 1080p Bravia and have my PS3 connected directly via a $90 Monster HDMI cable. I'm not using the audio through it though, i'm running a/v cables to my receiver that doesn't support HDMI. But I don't see how that would cause the problem. Is it the cable? Any ideas?

Sounds like a problem with the HDMI cable, see if anyone you know has one you could borrow and try it out
