If I flash my drive with ixtreme, and a new version comes out, do I have to go through the same flashing process all over or can I update through usb or something??

you have to flash to the newer firmware. I think its possible to flash straight from one ixtreme to the other without having to go back to the stock f/w first

Ok. What I really meant to ask is, will I have to open my system and use the sata cables and all that mess again? Or can I do it through another method.

yes, you will have to open it up again, there is no 'magical' dvd that will update your console for you, unless microsuck decides to do it for us!!
