4.01 (m33-2) and mp4 playback issues?

i am running dark alex's latest update (4.01 m33-2)

i've been converting videos using VisualHub on a mac, but i find i have to tick the convert option for "all psp's" as opposed to "PSP firmware 3.30+" to get them to play back on my psp.

i presume the difference in native resolution for 3.30+ is whats causing the problems?

is it normal to have to convert mp4s this way, or is there anything you change somewhere in recovery menu to make it work.

is it cause its still 'technically' running fw 1.5?
apologies if this is a noob type question - im usually pretty good at stuff like this!

Also i cant get my old 'media player' program to work that allowed playback of avi files...is it all related?

I am in the same boat. For some reason I can get .MP4's converted in "Video Converter" (for mac) to work. I have even changed the resolutions, names the files and corresponding thumbs M4V00001.mp4 and M4V0000.THM and nothing. Placed in bother X://VIDEO and the MP_Root folders 100MNV01 and 100ANV01.

Please.. someone shed some light on wtf is going on here.

Oh yea.. i simply get a Corrupted Data Icon and nothing will play.

Sucks.. it used to play MP4's fine. Maybe it's the CFW 4.01M33-2 ?

you're doing something wrong... could be with your converter software... or the options you're using with it... or trouble with your memory stick.

4.01 m33-2 can definitely playback mp4 just fine. i do it all the time... converting from a variety of sources to .mp4

but i don't use a mac. i'm on PC and i've used Algare Video Converter, AoA MP4 converter, and Acala PSP converter... all work just fine.

from my experience you don't even need a .THM file, it's optional... and i just use the original long filename no renaming seems required.
