ok iam gonna follow this post to softmod my xbox

but i wanna upgrade the hd to an 80 gig i have. i wont be playing xbox live i just want it to play movies and music and maybe a few game back ups. so i wanna know can i put my new hd in and then softmod it or what ?

Use any exploit to get your eeprom.bin file.

Once you do that you can turn your xbox off.

Follow these instructions, it's probably the easiest way to mod.

Oh one more thing, if you want your game saves copy e: udata and tdata. Then when building the xboxhdm cd just drop those two folders into E in the linux folder.
