Well I am not gonna be much help but it appears that drive has several known issues here is a link to a discussion I found on another site you may want to just get yourself a reliable good burner like Lite-on not to expensive and mine has been running and running for years.

Well maybe this will help check out this discussion there is one solution may or may not works what they basically say is try powering down your pc remove the power to the drive and boot back up then power down again reconnect the drive and boot back up (be sure to unplug the pc when u do all this wouldn't want you getting electicuted) once you boot back up let the drivers reinstall see if it works if not try doing a firmware update dell does post them on their website here are all the links you will need
