I just Recently purchased a new external harddrive that i wish to use with my ps3 but the problem is its not formatted in fat32 i did some digging and i found out that windows doesnt support harddrives about 32gigs so i was wondering if anyone knew of a 3rd party program that could do the job for me??

your external drive should have come with software to do this also you need to check the pins on the hard drive make sure its set for maximum size I had purchased one and it came with 160gb drive installed but wasn't set for maximum size so it defaulted to 32gb you can also change settings in the format function in windows.

guess i wasnt clearn enough let me start over I went out and bought a SimpleTech 1TB external harddrive i wanted to use it for my ps3 which only reads fat32. The Harddrive itself didnt come with any cds or software at all so i need a way to format this external harddrive to fat32.

thanks for the info, honesty you should be able to format that in windows but go over to seagate or the manufacturer of your hard drives website for tools you can download to format your drive, its a sad waste of space and efficientcy that ps3 doesn't support ntfs on such a large hard drive here is a link to seagates site http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools you can also if you don't mind the work put that drive into your desktop disconnect your local c drive use a windows 98 startup disk or your windows xp/vista install disk to format the drive you can also use the utimate boot cd get it at this link http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back...e-Boot-CD.shtml will allow you to run some dos type commands while booting from a cd image
