I'm extremely new to this as I just got a new Sony PC with a burner and have been lurking through the forums to gather intel. Last night I successfully completed my first DVD-RW burn of Office Space. As it is a DVD-5 I felt that it was the best choice to start with. I downloaded an ASPI layer and DVD Decrypter and used the ISO mode to rip and burn the movie. I also successfully installed and used Daemon to create a virtual DVD player to watch the movie from my desktop. Sorry to ramble!

I believe I'm ready to try ripping a DVD-9 and burning it to 2 DVD-5s, but I'm unclear as to what other software I need, if any. I have IFOedit, but haven't used it and I also downloaded Nero Burn. It seems to me that if I use Decrypter to rip the disc in any mode other than ISO, then I need a separate program to process the burn when I'm done with IFOedit.
Would I be correct to say that I would use DVD Decrypter to rip the movie to my HD, IFOedit to split it to 2 DVDs, then Nero to burn the finished directories to disc? Or is there an easier method?

Thanks!

You are right. To put a DVD-9 on 2 DVD-R's, all you need is a ripper (DVDDecrypter or SmartRipper) to rip to HDD, EfoEdit to split the DVD, then need to burn the dvd (Nero is fine). There are guides that walk you through it.

Don't ya love it when people work too hard and they don't have too??

Hey Good Guys,
Have you tried DVD Shrink ?? It's free, will rip your movies in generally 30 to 40 minutes.
It allows you to compress your larger DVD's to the necessary 4.36GB keep in or remove menus and trailers and provides you with a nice neat VIDEO_TS folder for you to have Nero burn for you.
Take a second and stop by here -

A powerful program, easy to use -
Enjoy,
