BURNING HELP plzzz

ok so i have movies that i have backed up into divx/xvid formats
and i use dvdsanta to burn them. now my question is the movies i have are all wide screen format and when i click on the option to change the aspect ration wide screen, and then i play them on my dvd player
i get wide screen but between the black thing on widescreen theres like a gray wanna be screen on top and bottom any clue how i can fix this
heres a picture i drew to make it easier of what i'm trying to say.

I don't know about dvd santa but I use ConverteX to dvd from vso software and have never had this issue it's very customizable create menus, stretch to fit video to the aspect, crop and padding many options its worth the money and right now they have a discount up on thier website for 20% just enter the code they have posted for today.

so have you converted your xvid/divx movies thats already wide screen to dvd and choose wide screen on your dvd burning program and didnt have that problem im talking about

yes I have had files that were native 16x9 and I have had some stretched to fit a hdtv screen and never seen that I also had another thought does you dvdsanta have a setting to change the background that is shown when u convert your files, that could be somthing to look at in the settings. I can tell you though that Convertx works fast good quality and also upgrades sound from mp3 to dolby 2.0 and if the files are in ac3 5.1 it keeps the sound tracks the same, its a very good program and saved me from so many headaches I had with both nero and easy media creator. My dvd and video programs are dvdsrhink, dvdfab hd decrypter, dvd decrypter, vso convertex to dvd, and I use cdburnerxp for other tasks like burning large data files and for backing up my vidoe files I use windows media player 11 will only back them up in data format but plays nicely on my dvd/divx player.
