I am attempting to convert my home VHS videos to DVD. I am capturing with no problem using Adobe Premiere 6.5. It is capturing into .AVI files. I have read over and over ALL the guides out there. I have used the TMPGE (sp)? To convert a .M2V file. This is where I get stuck. I have no idea what to do at this point. Do I need to convert this file into an .MPG file? Do I need to convert to a .VOB file etc?? I have captured a file that is over 2 hours long and I would also like to spilt that file into a bunch of different chapters and put some menus as well. Can someone tell me or show me a guide that takes you step thru step after I have my AVI file. I just need to get these files on to a DVD-R that will play in all stand alone players.

Is Premiere 6.5 a good program for capturing? Can you suggest something that would be better? I need TOP OF THE LINE QUALITY!!!

Hi sellout3, I know u say u have looked through all the guides so maybe u have seen this 1 already, sorry if y have but this guide does seem 2 cover it all.

http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd_page_4.cfm

There is a lot of support out there 4 Adobe Premier 6.5 and u may find something here on the Adobe site , they have got 2 know what there talking about!

http://www.adobe.co.uk/motion/tips/pre65mpeg/main.html

There is also a book on it from the dummies range which r excellent books.
Hopes this helps.

Thanks for the guides. I have not seen those. I think that I will be able to do what I need to do with that. Two more question I have. How do you make the menus that you see at the beginning of movies? How do you add chapters selections into one large movie (where you can avoid fast forwarding thru the movie) instead you can just hit skip button on remote and it goes to next chapter. Thanks you have been great so far.

Ahh menus and chapters u r talking about authoring, i have not used Adobe 6.5 myself but i am assuming that it does not have any authoring facilities on it?
I did visit the Adobe site as they know have authoring s/ware that combines with premier but it costs US$549.00!!!
So here r a few links 2 that u may find useful

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/55094

As Minion says here u can find most things 4 free if u know what s/ware u want and look hard enough!!! Some people say that u can get a demo version of some s/ware and then use a crack on it, whatever that is??? I could'nt possibly say, cough cough,Kazza, cough.

You should try TMPEG_DVD (not the usual TMPG). It is unbelievably easy making video files into DVD files, and making menus too. ;)
