my freind told me that if you own the original copy of the game then you wont get banned if you play on live. my question is that can you put in the original game once then play online with the backup as much as you want?

The answer to that is "we are not sure how M$ are detecting people"

There is probably a risk of playing any backup online with flashed non M$ firmware.

As we don't know exactly how they are detecting and banning people it's a risk using anything but an original unmodded console with an original game for online gaming.
