My Modded Wii arrived today from Dubai. I do not know how its modded i.e what chip. I had already read the stickys and told myself I wont do anything stupid, but I guess i have but not sure

1. OK as I turned the system on I checked what region and firmware it has installed. I had 3.1U (So I now know its NTSC-U)
2. I inserted the disc Super Mario Galaxy. The case of the disc said NTSC-U, but you cant trust that with cheap disc.
3. It asked for an update and I ran it thinking that I cannot brick my system if I update the wii with the correct region disc. After the update and the restart I saw 2 duplicate channels "weather & news"
3. I immediatly thought I have semi-bricked it but then the Wii settings was working with no errors and I checked the firmware was still 3.1U.
4. I then immediatly updated the firmware using the internet and it now shows 3.3U
5. The duplicate channels are still there
6. I have 35 cheapo game discs from all regions. All still work except 8 of them. They come with following errors
"An Error has occured. Press the eject button and remove the disc, then turn the wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help and troubleshooting"
"Unable to read disc" Check the Wii operation manual for help troubleshooting

Whenever you run an out of region disk that contains and update you will add the news and forecast channels for that region, regardless of whether your wii firmware needed updating.

Either use the duplicate channel remover tool or just throw them onto a different screen and forget about them.

So my Wii is not semi-bricked?

Any reason why I get the 2 errors on those 8 games.
