I just bought a Sony Memory Stick Duo 8gb, and it came with an adaptor. What does the adaptor do?

It lets you use the Memory Stick Pro Duo in a device that only has a slot for a Memory Stick Pro (the original, bigger brother of the Pro Duo).

It's handy for example if you have a Sony laptop which has a slot for just Memory Stick Pros.
