do i need a specific brand of 360 drive to be able to play back ups?
also, what is the most common way of playing back ups?

If you're going to buy a xbox360 make sure its the pro edition or elite. As long as you don't have a Philips Liteon drive you'll be fine.

www.360drives.com go there and see which lot numbers and team numbers you can find a benq drive in. then go to wal-mart, best-buy, where-ever, and buy that console. as nasirjns stated, preferably a pro or elite, however i feel the elite is a waste of money, but definitely at least the pro. and with the benq you can flash it in around 5 minutes.

Hi,

I'm in the same boat, looking to buy a new 360 after the price cut but not sure which one to get.

I've looked at the drive database but it still doesn't tell me which drives are flashable.

Are all the BenQ drives safe to flash? I've read some articles saying some are unflashable now.

I'm going to check by the lot and team and hopefully pick up one with a BenQ later today. I guess I have to dig up my torx screw driver and identify the drive that way as I hear the tray is no longer the way to do it...

If you are looking to buy one right now. good luck w/trying to find the BenQ drive. My best bet right now is to get one off craigslist or maybe even gamestop @ least you can power on the box and see what kind of tray you will def. get
