On some of the movies I have ripped I can't skip forward or backwards within the movies, neither with the FF/RW keys nor with the chapter skip keys. With "The Recruit" Media Player lists the movie as being only 1 second long and I can't go forward or backward. It will play fine from beginning to end but I can only play, pause, or stop during playback. Any way to fix this?

Try ripping to HDD with Anydvd alone. And make sure it is updated to latest version.

Also media player may not like the files, so try VLC player , free and can be downloaded from aD

So you're doing dual layer burning?

What program are you using to burn?

For Dual Layer burns the recommended method is using Imgburn and Verbatim DL blank media.

I'm ripping them to an External HDD and streaming them to my TV through my XBox 360.

I finally got it to work. I ripped the movie to my HDD with Shrink and converted to MPG with VOB2MPG. I think what I was doing wrong before was just renaming the .vob file and giving it an .mpg extension. The movie now has the correct length displayed and allows for skipping forward or backward.
