I have just brought a Creative Zen MP3 Player and want to be able to play my videos on it. It can't downscale the videos itself so I have to compress them down.

To do the job I selected AutoGK with the DivX codec installed. It does the job great apart from the audio and video starts in sync, but if you use VLC player and skip ahead it becomes out of sync. The original video is not like this.

Sorry if this is a common problem but after searching Google I could not find the answer. I hope someone can give me a bit of help with this, Dave!

I only see it in AVI source files with VBR audio - so I use VirtualDub to change the audio.
It can now be processed through AGK with no sync problem when seeking.

Download VirtualDub (no installation required)
Download and install Lame mp3 codec

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../virtualdub.cfm

http://users.tpg.com.au/mtam/install_lame.htm

Run VirtualDub, drag the video onto the window.
If the audio is VBR, an information file pops up - click 'OK'.

Audio -> Full processing Mode -> Compression -> No Compression -> OK
File -> Save wav
Audio -> Audio from other file, (open the wav file).
*Audio -> Compression -> Lame mp3 -> 48000, 128, cbr stereo -> OK
Video -> Direct Stream Copy
File -> Save as AVI.

*When compressing the wav file to mp3, if the 48000 options are not shown in the menu (perhaps because it's 44,100), convert the audio to 48000.
Audio -> Conversion -> 48, High Quality, Stereo, OK.
