help, i have a psp and my umd drive keeps making a clicking sound when i switch it on , the laser keeps moving and hits the assembaly and moves back and hits the assembaly for about 30 seconds then stops and after a while it happens again. so i bought a new umd drive and fitted it in and i have the same problem! whats wrong. ??
ya know lol, im new right?!!! but!!!!! i did hear,,,,,, somewhere.....that you 'can' purchase, new parts ORRRR the entire assembly for the UMD..and umm, likely online. :) (Maybe, someone here knows???... and can provide a link.)
so, google that lol if you must....(i would share a link if i had one :| simply... provide one) but....read around in here. theres a wealth of knowledge in the forums... regardless.
see if getting parts/assembly is doable?? if it is,...might not be really be all that much trouble to fix!!! be surprised sometimes, how easy it is right?? so.....give it a go.
Time to take it to a professional. Last one we did was exactly the same.. replaced laser assembly, same fault.. turns out it had a main board problem. Check the ribbon seating on the main board carefully, they can be fiddly..

which ribon seating do you mean as there are two ribbons from the umd drive. also did it work after you fiddled with the ribbon seating? thanks
