I started out with Nero 6 which came with my Memorex 16x double layer recorder. Then(on seperate computer) I purchased the Memorex as an external drive so that both my wife and I could use the recorder. It is connected via USB 2, I have also tried fire wire. 90% of the time when I want to burn something, view something, do anything with the recorder, Nero does not see the external USB connected drive, even though Windows Explore (XP Pro) sees the external drive. Nero has not offered a fix, maybe there is none. Many times I jazz around, opening, closing or what ever finaly it will recognize the external Memorex drive. Two quick examples, lets say I want to create a DVD data disk, inverably either version would list the internal drive which is only CDROM drive which shows only around 700MB's capacity instead of 4.7GB's capacity. Another example, disk test speed, always defaults to the internal drive.
