I am using a direct show video juke box to play music videos. Some are mpg and some are mkv. I also use ffdshow and the matroska splitter.

My problem is that mpg files always use the default ffdshow audio codec but mkv files with PCM audio use another unknown codec to play the audio. As the unknown codec seems to be set much louder than the one ffdshow uses I get horrible volume changes between songs.

Any one know how I can identify which codec is being used by mkv pcm files and switch it off or force mkv files with pcm audio to use the default ffdshow codec.
