Hi, I'm a noob archiving my digital still photos onto DVD from my harddisk. In addition to archiving the JPEG and PSD files in the DVD data disk, I would like to include a slide show (as an MPEG movie) that standalone DVDs can playback on TV. I'm using Cyberlink Powerdirector 5 (came with my laptop) to produce the MPEG file. I have some questions about the settings to use for my PAL TV, hopefully I can get some advice from the helpful experts here.

So far I've been producing MPEG1 files at 352x288 px resolution. Will I achieve better resolution on the TV screen if I use the Mpeg2 format using 704x576 px resolution? I don't want to end up with .vob files - I just want to stay with Mpg files for the DVD player to playback. Will the DVD player just scale the output down to 352x288 px on screen and end up the same as the MPEG1 file's quality?

I'm confused over the relationship between resolution and aspect ratio for TV output. I understand the usual TV's aspect ratio is 4:3. So how does 352x288 px fit on the screen since that is not 4:3?

Sorry if the questions sound amateurish. I've read most of the informative guides and discussions on this forums and learnt many things. But can't figure out the above two things.
