Hi,

I have a BlueRay m2ts file (renamed to m2t) with H.264 1080p video stream and LPCM 5.1 sound. I'm streaming this file to PS3 through TVersity. My PS3 sound is hooked to a stereo amplifier via two RCA cables for 2-channel sound. When I stream my m2ts file with LPCM sound, I don't think that the PS3 is downmixing the 5.1 LPCM to 2channel stereo analog signal - I'm missing certain sounds. If I stream the same file with 5.1 AC3 sound, PS3 downmixes it correctly to stereo and I can hear all sounds. Also, in both cases, PS3 is correctly showing that the audio is either 5.1 LPCM or 5.1 AC3 when the file is being played.

My questions are:

1. Can PS3 downmix streamed LPCM to analog stereo? I don't think so based on my tests, but want to hear about your experience.

2. Can PS3 send streamed LPCM through HDMI to a compatible receiver? I'm not able to test this as I don't have LPCM compatible HDMI receiver.

3. Why AC3 downmix works and LPCM downmix not?

In case you ask why bother with LPCM, since I only have stereo amp. Well, I want to do my movie setup just once and be ready with the highest quality for the time when I do have high end receiver.
