Okay,
I have installed the D2C Key modchip (yes, i confirmed that was the modchip needed - opened wii and read the drive), downloaded the software (WinRar/Region Frii/Wii Brickblocker/ImgBurn/etc...) Extracted rar file and converted to ISOs, burned the ISOs with ImgBurn to DVD media at speeds below. And.... The Wii copies will not play in my newly modded Wii. The D2C Key LEDs light blue and red to at start up, but no light when I enter the copy. Originals work fine (as they should.
No I am not extracting data to "back-up" Wii games (I understand that there is a specific group of LG drives needed, along with RawDump software) So, long story short... Am I doing something wrong?
Burner: PioneerDVR-110D (came with my Sony Vaio/Media Center)
Burn speeds tried: 2 DVDs @ 2X, 2 DVDs @ 4X
Media: Verbatim DVD RW+-/Pengo DVD RW+-
Modchip: D2C Pro 9 presoldered with clip (installed to exact specifications)
Is my BURNER the problem? Anyone have an idea? Help is much appreciated.
Since you have not verified that your modchip is installed correctly and working, I don't know why you would assume that your burner is the problem.
Based on the symptoms you are describing (originals work and backups don't), the first assumption would be that your modchip isn't working and I think you should check that first.
The other way to verify this would be to take one of your backups to someone else's modded Wii and see if it runs.
Okay, fair enough. I was trying to find a source that describes the light sequence to confirm the D2C Key is working properly. But no such luck. Does anyone know the sequence.
there is no specific light sequence that means the chip is working correctly. Only running a backup successfully can prove it.
I would follow the advice above, try a disc on another wii, or use a backup from someone else that is known to work on yours. from that you can start to identify your problem.
