Funky Analog Stick?

Well I've read a couple of guides on how to disassemble the PSP and fix the analog stick for it being nonresponsive or overall "Funky"

The issue I'm having is my stick seems to get "Stuck" basically where depending on whatever game I'm playing my character gets stuck moving forward or backward OR isn't walking forward or backwards, it really depends.

If I bother cracking my PSP open does anyone know if that'll fix the issue or has anyone here personally had an issue with what was described above?
