We are cleaning up our offices and in one of the storerooms was a box of these CMC MAG R01-000 DVD+R. I'd say there are about 500 of these ugly dark green "Value Disc" discs. I wouldn't use them for client data or video content but can they be used for anything?
Also, we have put several thousand DVD/CDs through the shredder... Are they recycleable? We get fined if we place recycleables in the garbage and such. We don't want Al Gore walking through the door. We had enough trouble with him when he invented the internet!!!
Thanks!

Bring 'em home and use them for DVD movie back ups. CMC Mags are not the best media around. I would NOT use them on stuff I was keeping but they make good giveaways and experimental burn discs or to give your kids as their own. The best part is they seem to be free! And no dumpster diving involved. LOL

One could also take blank dvd's and some old wire hangers and make a pretty nifty and original mobile to hang over a baby's crib.
Lol.

Another worker found a bunch of dark orange DVD+RWs. Least these puppies don't have any writing on them. But they are again CMC Mags. Wonder if the person who purchased these discs did so for the colors? Maybe we will find some bright yellow ones next...
Our throw away box of DVD/CDs is full. I'd say there's aleast 5000 in there and we still have (many) boxes to sort. There has to be a place to recycle them. I have to wait till Monday to call the city to see if they qualify as 'plastic'.

I'd call the EPA and see if you qualify as a Superfund Toxic Waste Fund recipient. There is always E-bay, I hear some CD Freaks members just love their CMC Mag disks.

Where are you located? Perhaps a nearby member could pick up the discs for free, use what they can & toss the rest? I'd do it if you were in or near Houston Tx....

No we are in Pittsburgh, PA. This is unreal that there's no place to recycle these old DVD/CDs. We also have several thousand 3.5" disks. They should be recycled too! The new CMC Mags will be given away. Last week we put out two Epson All-In-One printers that no longer worked. Our in-house tech took them apart and for some strange reason he put them back together. The guy who grabbed them came back a day later pissed off. He screamed for 20 minutes... We wasted his time. What's going to happen this week when we put all this stuff out? Maybe it's a good time to take some time off.

I'm sure a couple of guys are fueling up their trucks and heading your way right this minute, Right Rob and Bigtoxy?
Post that info in the dumpster diving thread and see how quickly your problem goes away. Just a street address and a date and time is all that you'll need, trust me on this one.

I use them in the garden.. make good bird scarers. Also pretty good clay pigeon substitutes if you stick 5 or 6 together. They can be used more than once too.. easy to find in the grass. Mileage with cmc's seems to vary with your burner. I don't use them because they don't like my hardware...
