Making my own movies: I started by filming using a digital camcorder. Using Windows Movie Maker I captured the footage to my hard-drive. A friend used Final Cut Pro to make the short film. I want to add an audio track to the movie, its for another friend whose Labrador passed away and this is some footage of his dog.
The friend who made the movie mailed me the DVD, so now in speaking w/ him he explained I need to rip the movie so that I can bring it into a video authoring software program to add the audio track.
I purchased Adobe Premiere CS3, no idea how to use yet. But wondering how I rip the DVD, DVD Decrypter? If it is DVD Decrypter, how do I do this? I have been plunking around in there but have not found how to do this if possible.
Insert the disk to be ripped.
Start 'DVD Decrypter'
Top menu, click 'Mode' => 'File'
In the main window, choose the source drive (the DVD drive).
Select an output folder.
Click on the button to start.
Note that for ripping commercial DVD's that the preferred ripper is 'DVDFab HD Decrypter' - not the older 'DVD decrypter'.
DVD Decrypter will automatically select the movie. Now, hit the "Demux" option. If you cannot see it, right click on the video file (it is already selected) and find the option "set all=>Demux"
Now hit the start button.
The difference is that in the method by Attar, you will get a .VOB file and in the method I suggest, you will get a .m2v file. While both formats work, the .m2v is the Video stream file whereas the .VOB is in a container. It is easier to work with .m2v.
To mux your DVD either use an authoring software or use muxman.
