If you have a wiikey installed and suddenly one day your backups have stopped working, but your originals are fine than this is the guide for you. What has happened is your wiikey has "lost" its firmware.

There has been a lot of speculation and back and fourth on if the 1.9b recovery disc actually works or not, and the answer is yes. It does really work as long as you follow these instructions.

First you need the following.
1. 2 blank DVD's
2. Nero burning rom or similar
3. A copy of the 1.9b recovery disc. Its not available on the wiikey.cn site anymore but is avalable on most torrent sites.
4. A copy of wiikey update 1.9s

****NOTICE****
You must follow these steps EXACTLY.

Step one, burn your wiikey 1.9b recovery and 1.9s update discs. I will not cover here how to unpack and burn them properly as this has been covered in many other posts. Once you have your discs, move on to step 2.

Step 2. Start your wii and get it to the main channel screen. Do not enter the disc channel.

3. Insert your 1.9b recover disc and push the reset button as soon as the disc is in the drive.

4. Wait. Just let your wii sit for 3-4 mins.

5. Push the reset button again. and as soon as the menu screen comes up click on the disc channel. The diec will still come up and say it cannot be read. This is normal. Eject the disc and power down your wii.

6. Power the wii back up and insert your 1.9S update disc. Wait at the channel screen until you see the GC logo appear in the disc channel and then click on it. Do not enter the disc channel until you see the logo. If you dont see the logo your recovery disc didnt take, or your discs are not burned properly.

7. Perform the 1.9s update.
8. Play your backups again!

I hope this helps to clear the air about the 1.9b recovery disc and will allow others to get their wiikeys running again without replacing them.
