Updating to latest Wii firmware?

Hey, I have a wiikey and I run backups of my games. Anyway, I was wondering if updating will cause any problems for me? I want to update so i can have the wii browser, but dont want anything to stop working on my wii.
Will any of my homebrew stop working, or any of my backups?

Will my "Gamecube disc (DVD to SD Copier)" still work flawlessly?

Or is there anyway to get the browser other than updating? Because when i go to the shop channel to look for it, before i get to anywhere it says i need to update. However it also says something about modified consoles. So idk.

You don't need to update to run the browser, the browser will run on any firmware. I guess the big N are just trying to make sure people update.

The only thing 3.3 will stop working is freeloader and trucha signed disks and there are ways round both of these. Don't know about your DVD to SD copy app, don't know the details of how it works. You could just get the browser via torrents.
