Please Help!

I'm looking for the easiest way to backup DVD movies. This is not for me, but for my computer illiterate father. Not that I know anything about DVD burning myself.

I've read the threads in this forum and it seems that DVDShrink and DVD Decrypter are the best for decoding/compacting, and CloneDVD and Nero for burning. But, never mind "Best", I'm looking for easiest. Simple Colorful menus and large buttons are preferred. As few steps as possible is a plus.
Are any of the Freeware as easy to command as Xcopy Express seems (I've seen screenshots)? If so, which?

If I had to resort to buying Xcopy, what is the difference between Platinum and Gold? Is one easier, prettier, or faster than the other?
Last, are the Free burners and decoders as fast as the various Xcopy software? I read that Platinum is supposed to decode and burn within an hour. Is this true? (of course assuming average system stats).

Thanks, I'll appreciate any advice.

IMHO the simplest would be clonedvd/anydvd. For freebies, dvdshrink or dvddecrypter.

If your dad only cares about the main movie, the easiest way that I've found is to first use DVD Decrypter v3.1.9.0 to decrypt the whole movie to a folder on your hard drive, then use Pinnicle Instant Copy 8 (under DVD select Main Movie Only). You can download Decrypter v3.1.9.0 for free at:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/

and can purchase Pinnicle Instant Copy 8 for under $25.00 at:

I have used both products (and many others) to create many backs of my movie DVD's and haven't found a better combination for function and ease of use.
