Hi,
Would anyone be able to help, having problems with DVD Shrink and ImgBurn.
First i used DVD Fab 5 and then FixVTS1 then DVD Shrink and then ImgBurn following the instructions on here to the letter but ImgBurn errored.
Here is the error message that popped up:
$$I/O Error!

Would anyone please be able to help. I?ve not used DvdShrink since i upgraded to vista last year because mainly of the Nero6 compatability but also due to the fact that until now i haven?t really needed to back up any DVDs. The discs are the same ones that worked fine back then and quite recently for some data dvds i had to do for work so im pretty sure it not the drive or the dics.
Anyone able to give me any tips to get around this
Sorry for the size of the post
Thanks a million
Joe

Power calibration error usually means either poor quality discs (media) or need for a burner firmware upgrade. So what brand of media are you using. My favorite is Taiyo Yuden

just some unbranded media i bought 400 of from a computer fair a couple of years back, ive never had any problems with them at all for burning up until now, as for a firmware update for my drive my computer has some empowering technology thingy that automatically updates stuff like that whenever acer make it available

Try making another burn and post that log.
You can change ImgBurn's settings so it won't overwrite the old log.

Imgburn just recently updated.so you may want to uninstall the old version of Imgburn, run ccleaner and install the newest version of Imgburn, then retry. Good luck

No need to uninstall, Imgburn will install over existing versions no problem.
We still need a look and an entire log...go to Imgburn->Help_->Imgburn Logs.

You might want to try updating your firmware to SC04 and get some decent media.

Get some decent media. Your power calibration errors and logical block errors are due to your drive not being able to handle the media. You may have been able to use them in the past, but you are seeing the results now.

Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim are the way to go.
Good quality backups require using good quality blank media.

Hi
I've been out today and bought some better quality media, local comp shop didnt have either of the brands you recomended but i got some sony ones as nearly everything i buy sony lasts forever so i figured they couldnt be bad. Anyway, it at least started to write this time but still eventually failed after 61% was burnt.
here is the log:

Your drive still only sees the discs at 6X. Update your firmware.

You should also slow your write speed down, a good rule of thumb is half of the rated disk speed, at least until you see how your disk and burner will work together. Some do better than others.
