I have loaded several games on my xboxx hdd to play until I have figured out this ftp thing. I have this all figured out now and can , ftp int the box no problem . I have backed up several of my OWN (storebought) games. Now I would like to backup the games that are on the Xbox hdd. Question, can I do this , is it possible or do I have to use the DVD ? When I ftp into the xbox hdd I can not see the games I have on it ? I tried to do a forum search on this , I did not have any luck , if this question has been answered somewhere could you please send me in the direction. Thank you all , a great website and forum. Big Smed.

well first you need a dvd burner. This is because most games are going to be bigger then 800MBs. So a CD burner won't work. That said your going to need to ftp the game forlder into your PC. Then use a program like Craxtion to make a xbox iso. Pretty much what is happening it that the ripped file from your xbox HDD and makes it into a image the your xbox can read on a disk. Now denpending what program use use to back up your games on your xbox thats where u going to find them. Seeing how u back up a few games i'm guessing u don't have a orginal HDD. SO try looking in the F:\ partion. If your using PHloader to back up your games the games are going to be in that folder. I think it will be in the phloader folder. The game won't have the name of the game but a name like PXgame1(only using phloader). After u find the game folder, ftp it into your pc, make them into a xbox iso, and then just burning it useoing a program like Nero.

HI there
Once you have copied a game to your PC HDD how do you get the xbox to recognise the game when you copy it back to your xbox hdd please? I tried copying back to the PxGame0 folder under the HDDLoader directory but the HDDLoader app doesnt appear to know its there!

Many thanks

timmers, Why do you want to copy it back? what are you trying to do? if you FTP the game to your pc, the game will still be on your xbox unless you deleted it.

Just like Stevo2 said, it is COPIED to the PC's HDD. It still remains on the xbox HDD.Or at least it should be. The biggest probem I have had is trying to figure out which game is which on the xbox's hdd.. I have 20 on there and I only wanted to backup some of them , but ended up doing them all because I could not tell one from the other. Some were not worth wasting a DVD on. BigSmed....

Yea, bigsmed, the time iv'e spent ploughing through the HDDloader game files trying to find something that will give a clue to what the game is. if you figure out a better way, pls let me know. i wonder if it's ok to rename them after they are saved?

After reading timmers post again , it sounds like maybe he is reading the game from the "D" drive on his xbox not the hdd. I had read somewhere about doing that. Ftp'ing it onto your computer then placing it back on the x box hdd. Seems like a extra step to me though. I have no idea of any easy way to sort the games out on the xbox hdd drive, I wish I did I could have saved a few DVD's. BigSMed.

All i can think for you to do is, if you can fit one game on your Xbox HD, use pxhddloader to rip the game ready to play to your xbox.
Then D/L it to your pc, in it's folder(i'm wondering again if it's possible to rename them?)
You can now store them and send them back ready patched as required.

I recently tried using the Avalaunch dashboard. You can launch this as an application from your favorite dashboard like evox. Then download a program for your PC called Qwix. With Avalaunch running the Qwix program bring up all your games with names, directories, sizes, number of folders and type. It also allows you to select a game and extract it to your PC as an ISO image. This is very easy and very cool. I would definitely recommend this.
