Whats the best way to flash a MS28 Drive?

I have flashed some drives before but I was wondering what is the best way to flash the MS28's with the newest firmware?

I bought a new DVD drive for my 360 and need to put my old key on it. Unfortunately, I don't have the original disk that I first flashed my drive with. I do however, have my original key. Can I use the Firmware maker tool to conbine my old key with the new firmware and then flash using IPrep?
