i cant find one on this site at the moment that's stickied... ill try find one later :)
can you start by telling us what firmware it is and is it old version psp or the new slim one...
[Edit] I'm sorry how silly of me, i didn't quite grasp the meaning of the question being asked
what do you mean he cant play any new games?...
to update it officially by tbe network..
plug in your PSP battery charger and click the update icon under system menu on the PSP, then it will say "finding update", once found... it will begin to download the update once that has finished go to your Game icon on the PSP and click memory stick... the go to the update Icon, click that and follow the on screen instructions and agree to what it says...
click update... it will say "Make sure you dont remove your memorystick, battery, chatger and do not turn off you console etc.."
a status bar and percentage will appear on screen... once finished
it will restart and there you go updated psp.
To update by a game disc... plug in your psp charger and place your game disk in the drive, go to the update icon underneath the game disc and click it.. follow the on screen instructions and agree to what it says then it will say "Make sure you dont remove your memorystick, battery, chatger and do not turn off you console etc.."
a status bar and percentage will appear on screen... once finished
it will restart and there you go updated psp.
hope this helps a little bit

my previous post is void... ill try to explain it then...i wondered why you would be posting here if it was official and not hacked
as it has the M33 firmware at the moment... its simple enough to update as the creator (Dark_alex) made it possible to update by the network icon
plug in the psp battery charger and click update, make sure the WLAN switch is on so it can connect to your router/wireless device...
follow the onscreen instructions and it will begin to download the update on to the memory stick... once done... scroll to Game icon and click memory stick and scroll down to update M33 icon or something similar that states "m33" possibly 4.05 m33 -2
once it loads it will say do you want to update, click yes/continue (i haven't done this for a while) and it should begin to update the PSP with the new firmware... once finished it will say "update finished, the PSP requires a restart" or something similar... click yes and it will restart and be perfectly updated with the new firmware

lol im finding it hard to keep up with your posts... please bear with me
.. it sounds like the actual game files are broken not the firmware... are they in the right folder?
should be in the folder "ISO" on the memory stick

one of two problems.... bad flash or corrupt game image...
try updating your PSP's like i explained before and see if thatfixes the problem
if not try re-downloading the image as it might be corrupt or try getting a different one

ok well try updating it.... if not then, we can try altering some settings in the PSP's recovery menu which is easy enough

its not that you not making sense to me but you post and while im posting a big guide then you post again with more info... doesnt matter honestly....
ill write this guide for you in specific detail to you so you can update when ever you want... enjoy Big brother :)
1. follow this link and click "Download PSP Custom firmware 4.01 M33" onto your desktop
2. right click and click extract to 401M33 using WinRAR which is available here if you need it.. Click here
2.b if you need WinRAR click the link and then click "ENGLISH" which is in the middle of the page along with other languages... download it and double click to install.. click yes/accept to all yes/accept buttons then right click the firmware folder 401M33 you downloaded before and right click it and click "extract to 401M33" once it has finished extracting it open the new folder and plug in PSP number 1 you want to update... i assume you want to update both one after the other... once plugged in turn on your PSP and goto USB connection which if you dont know is under SYSTEM on your PSP.
close auto run box as its annoying lol if it comes up
open my computer and click what ever pops up as your PSP and double click it then goto the folder PSP then Game and copy the folder "UPDATE" which is in the one you downloaded...
now you need to download this which goes in the same folder
once there, click free user and it will ask to save it, save it on you desktop.. once downlooaded rename it to 401.pbp its important that you so it can find it...
copy the 401.PBP file to the folder you have open which should be your psp's memory stick and copy to the following folder PSP/GAME/UPDATE
once that is both done fully... close the USB connection on your PSP and plug in your Battery charger if its not already and go to GAME icon on your PSP and click memory stick... then click run UPDATE 4.01 M33 now follow the instructions on the screen and it will begin to update once finished 100%, click OK/Yes/continue/restart/whatever it says do again and it should restart.. if you made it this far then you have 1 out of 2 PSP updated...
now im off to sleep because i am so tired... lol i hope this helps a bit and i will help you if you need help in the morning or when you reply
Joe :)
