Hi, I just got my wiikey yesterday, and tried to solder it with the wires, I got all them on the wiikey, and only 4 of them on the wii... the other 2 (numbers 5 and 6 on the wiikey diagram) just wouldn't stay on... I tried and tried.... so... in the end, the little solder that was already on the wii ended up sticking to the soldering iron, and now it's gone from my wii in spots (3, 5 and 6 on the wiikey diagram) ... i just got a finer point soldering gun, and sold electrical solder, but, it just doesn't stay stuck to the board... is there better solder that like, sticks to anything, and doesn't just "soak" up onto the soldering gun tip.. any pointers would be GREATLY appreciated, otherwise, my wii is ....ed! -.-

You could try using a little flux to get the solder to stick to where you need it, but I would advise either a wii clip or getting it professionally done.

Yea, I could use a wiikey clip i guess... but... I was reading online, about the solder points on the wii already, people were calling them "pads" ... i kind of accidently removed those with the soldering iron like I said... so... I need to find a way to get those pads back on before I do anything ... -.- (but, I'll try to use the flux right now... we'll see how that turns out -.-)

Flux will not help with soldering pads that have the solder burnt off. You will need to solder to the alternate points in the IC legs. I advise you to just let somebody you know that is good at soldering to do this or just send it off to a professional.

There's no way to rebuild the solder pads, if they're gone then they're gone. The type of solder doesn't matter, there's just no way to do it. And if you messed up soldering to the pads I would NOT advise attempting to solder to the IC legs. Get it professionally done.

A wiiclip is still an option as well. It doesn't use the solder pads, but instead connects directly to the alternate solder points of the IC legs without any soldering.

what exact;y are the IC legs?

BTW, my wii boots, but, it just doesn't read my disk drive -.- SIGH....

Anywho, lemme know...

EDIT: Also, if i absolutely have to buy a new Wii DVD rom drive, lets just say, or If i buy a premodded one, if worst comes to worst, does ANY drive work with any wii, or does it have to be the same chipset (like D2C etc)?

There's a diagram for you.

You can use any drive. It does not matter. But if you buy a replacement drive and it's D2C then you will need a D2C chip like D2Pro9 v.2.

Just send it to a professional if you have doubts soldering to the IC legs. You will spend more money if you need to to buy a new drive along with buying another chip.
