Firmware 3.52 (Official) to 4.01 M33-2 Custom

I've just aquired a PSP which is the older fat style with firmware 3.52 (official) on it.

I want to upgrade this to 4.01 M33-2 with the 1.50 kernel so i can play things saved on the memory card and won't have to carry discs with me everywhere i go.

What is the best way to do this? From what i've researched, it seems to be using something like the Datel Hot Wire battery and a magic memory card. Is this correct?

Also, will I need to upgrade to any firmware (official or custom) inbetween or will I be able to jump straight from the official 3.52 to the custom 4.01 M33-2?

Is it easy to make a magic memory card myself? Is the above system pretty much fool proof?

buy the DATEL tool batter or your hot wire. Then use this guide to make the magic memory stick

no, you will get to 3.90 M33 i think. Then use a guide to upgrade to 4.01 M33. If you need a guide, give me a holler

I'll try to get up to 3.90 M33-2 and then up to 4.01 M33-2 then. Will it be safe to go straight from 3.52 official to 3.90 custom then yeah?

I just bought the Hot Wire (made by Datel) off Amazon for £8 (with free next day delivery due to Prime membership trial - bargain!).

I may need to give you a shout though regarding the guide to get up to 4.01 M33-2 (and maybe regarding the Magi Memory stage too) if that's ok?
