Hello I have just purchased this device and was under the assuption that you can disable macrovision . I have read this at several different forums as well as this one. I guess my question is has anyone actually own a advc100 and has disabled macrovision ? maybe they have changed the unit? please help me also it was suggested that I purchase a video stabilizer any recomendations? ]-[uckleberry

I go from my RCA DVD Player to the S-VHS & Right and Left Audio inputs on my ADVC-100 then using firewire into my computer and am able to capture a complete movie on my hard drive using Sonic MyDVD. I have no problem with copy protection.

Sorry, I wasn't paying enough attention to your question. I also own the ADVC-100 but, have never tried using it with a commerical VHS Tape however; it does seem logical that to defeat microvision you would need a video stablizer. You can take a look at two different one at:

Hey thanks for your help. great news I had purchased a new super VHS player and wanted one with s video for better quality and I did not fully read the manual low and behold this player has a built in video stabilizer JVC model HR-s2902U tried it last night work great ! ]-[uckleberry
