Hi,

I recorded a TV program with my Hauppauge WinTV card. I set the "Quality Level" to DVD Long play. I would like to record on a DVD, so I got TMPGEnc Plus to convert the file to a DVD formet. The file extension is .mpg but TMPGEnc cannot seems to read the file.

After reading this forum, I went to change the "Quality Level" to MPEG1 VCD and I managed to get TMPGEnc to read and open the file. The file extension is also .mpg.

My question here is how do I convert the earlier ones with the Quality Level set to " DVD Long play" to DVD format.

Thanks in advance!

The files the pvr250 creates are MPEG-2 files. You need to make sure that you have the MPEG-2 codecs/dll files installed on your computer. Installing some DVD player software usually provides this. Do you have that already on your machine, like WinDVD or PowerDVD, can you open your files that way? If not, install the full or trial version of the programs and it will install the codecs. Or, I'm sure there are other MPEG-2 codecs out there, you just need to search for them.

Yo guys,

Yo don't need TMPGEnc Plus if your file is already Mpeg2, you would need TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVD Lab to convert Mpeg2 to DVD files before burning into DVD with Nero, RecordNow Max, etc.

Exactly, What is the Point of Captureing to Mpeg2 if you are just going to re-encode the File again?? This will Just Ruin any Quality you had in the First Place..You just capture to DVD Compliant Mpeg2 and then author to DVD useing Whatever you Like...
