info computer windows xp with media player 11
ps3 signed into the internet wired connection with router and the upnp unavailable (not sure what that means)
computer online.

i go to the wmp11 go to share media and there are no devices there
i also have my firewall turned off

is there something i need to do with the ip address of the ps3 or the computer.

please help any ideas or suggestions on where to go for a good guide for a step by step would be great

What kind of router do you have? Go into your router's settings and enable upnp. If that doesn't work go back into your router's settings and look for the option "filter multicast." Enable that if you need to and then your PS3 will see your media servers and vice versa.

still nothing
my wmp 11 still does not see the ps3 on the media share

is there some search i need to do on the computer or anything
does anyone know of a step by step guide

Try tversity or another media server. Some people could not get wmp11 to work at all.

I would recommend using Tversity because it can convert most of your files you have to the PS3 format on the fly. unless you have all mpeg2 files or divx files you may have issues with streaming. i dont know about your wired connection mine is wireless and i never had any troubles after i allowed MP11 to share to my ps3. here is a link for more info on how firewalls work and hot-to's for reference. i dont remember if the have anything pertaining to the PS# but its full of information. but i would just go tversity. and plus with tversity you can customize your menu's to make it cleaner.
