Converting .avi to DVD using a MAC

So there are lots of guides on this site but none of them are really useful to MAC users. So I'm asking what I'll have to do to convert .avi files to dvd on a MAC using freeware software. I don't wish to have to pay, not nessaserily because I'm a cheap ass but more because my card s temporarily blocked and I can't use it for a while.
